Toronto marks a milestone in Iberia’s history: our first destination in Canada and the 49th in our long-haul network. This new connection will bring Canada closer to Spain and Europe, offering Canadian travelers more options to explore our country and the continent with Iberia’s renowned service.
This route complements recent openings to Orlando, Recife, Fortaleza, and Monterrey, reinforcing Iberia’s commitment to the Americas and expanding its portfolio of direct destinations from Madrid.
The A321XLR: Key to Iberia’s Transatlantic Expansion
The new Toronto route will be operated with the Airbus A321XLR, the most modern and fuel-efficient aircraft in Iberia’s fleet for transatlantic operations. Iberia was the launch customer for this aircraft, which has become one of the most sustainable options in the market, delivering up to 40% fuel savings compared to wide-body models. This capability allows transatlantic routes to be flown with a single-aisle aircraft while maintaining the high comfort standards of Iberia’s long-haul fleet.
The A321XLR features the new Airspace cabin, offering larger overhead bins, LED lighting, and an enhanced sense of space to improve the onboard experience. The aircraft is configured in two classes —Business and Economy— with a total of 182 seats, combining operational efficiency with passenger comfort for long-haul flights.
