Prices for the carriage of special baggage

 

Please refer to this table for the charges applicable to the carriage of special baggage for short-haul, medium-haul and long-haul flights.

Sports equipment accepted free of charge on long-haul flights counts as one item of checked baggage. If the passenger exceeds the number of items included in their free checked baggage allowance, it will be considered as additional baggage.

On our direct flights to Innsbruck, we include 1 piece of special ski or snowboard equipment within the baggage allowance for all fare families, except for the basic fare, on routes to/from Spain, Europe, North Africa and the Middle East to Innsbruck, for both individual and group bookings.

 

*If the operating company is other than Iberia, you should consult with it the particular conditions of carriage and its franchise. On point-to-point Iberia flights operated by Vueling, or on journeys connecting Iberia flights operated by Vueling, the cost will be €45 for each flight.

 

** Also includes the Dakar route.

In order to be checked in without any problems, sports equipment must comply with the transport and packaging requirements. The permissible weight is 23 kg. If this is exceeded, an overweight charge of up to a maximum of 32 kg is payable.

Space reservation: The code SR SPEQ must be included in the reservation, along with the weight and size of the equipment.

Snow and water skiing, snowboarding or monoskiing equipment:

Snow

One pair of skis or one monoski board, one helmet and one pair of poles and boots. It may be carried in two bags.


Water

One bag containing a pair of standard water skis or a slalom water ski.

Golf equipment

One bag containing 14 clubs, 12 balls and one pair of shoes.
Golf clubs must be securely fastened inside the bag so as not to cause discomfort or damage during embarkation, transport and disembarkation.

Non-mechanised skates, skateboards or scooters

A bag containing a pair of skates or a skateboard or a scooter, a set of protectors (elbow pads, knee pads, etc.) and a helmet.
The carriage of recreational devices such as hover boards, air wheels and mini-segways is prohibited.



Other sports equipment

Bowling
One bowling bag and one pair of shoes.

Tennis / squash / badminton
One set of rackets and balls carried in a bag.

Hockey
One hockey bag, sticks, one pair of ice skates, one set of pads (elbow pads, knee pads, etc.), one helmet.

Javelin throwing
One set of javelins carried in a container.

Archery
One set of bow and arrows carried in a container.

Aerial activities

Hang glider
A single container and a maximum length of 3.5m.

Paragliding/Paragliding without engine
In a single container.

Non-motorised bicycles (non-electric)

They must be single-seat and must be checked in folded, with handlebars attached to their sides, pedals separated and tyres deflated and correctly packed.


Iberia has a packaging* of 131+72+21cm and a price of 20€ per unit, which is delivered at the passenger's request or at the request of the agents.


This service is offered, subject to availability, at the airports of A Coruña, Barcelona, Florence, Jerez, Madrid, Milan (Linate and Malpensa), Montevideo, Rome, Santander, Sao Paulo, Venice and Vigo.

Surfing, windsurfing, kite boarding and body boarding equipment

One board and/or one parachute with some exceptions to the standard sizes.

Surf/ Kite board/ Wave board
One kite and/or one board not exceeding 3.5m in length.

Bodyboard/Boogie board
A board of maximum 100x50x20cm.

Windsurf
Board, boom, daggerboard, mast and sail, all wrapped together.
Only one piece of equipment is accepted per passenger and its transport is subject to availability of space on the flight.
The customer must be at the airport in good time to check in, transport the equipment to the aircraft and load it in the hold.

More water sports equipment

Diving, fishing, inflatable rubber dinghy, life jacket/sail...

Diving
A container or bag with a mask, two fins, a regulator set, BCD, snorkel, weight belt and an empty bottle.

Fishing
A maximum of 2 containers, one with no more than two rods and one with fishing boots and tackle.

Inflatable rubber dinghy
Carry bag with one rubber dinghy (without motor), one pair of oars.

Life jacket/sail
One inflatable life jacket and one 60 grams CO2 bottle.

Depending on their dimensions, they can be carried in the cabin or checked in.

As hand baggage

If it does not exceed 30x120x38 cm, it may be carried in the cabin as the only piece of hand baggage, in addition to the personal accessory*.

As checked baggage

The maximum dimensions allowed for checked musical instruments, amplifiers or sound equipment are 190x75x65 cm, with a maximum weight of 23 kg. If they exceed these measurements/weight, they will be considered bulky baggage.

* If there is not enough space on board, it will be removed to be loaded in the hold of the aircraft.


On flights operated by Iberia Regional Air Nostrum and Vueling, their specific regulations will apply.

Passengers may carry their mechanically operated wheelchairs and any similar mobility device (walkers, crutches, etc.) free of charge.

They must meet a series of requirements to be accepted in the hold:

• Dry battery-operated chairs:

Their terminals must be insulated to avoid possible short circuits, and the accumulator must be properly secured to the wheelchair and disconnected.


• Wet battery powered wheelchairs:


They should always be able to be charged, stowed, lashed and discharged in an upright position, with the battery disconnected and secured to the wheelchair, and the battery terminals insulated. If this is not possible, the accumulator shall be separated from the wheelchair and packed in a watertight, electrolytic-proof material protected against violent movements. It must also be protected against short circuits and must be in a vertical position, with the packaging surrounded by absorbent material.

On Volaris flights, with which we operate a codeshare agreement in Mexico, wet battery or lithium wheelchairs are not accepted.

The Czech authorities inform passengers travelling with their electric wheelchair that they must hand it in at check-in, where they will be provided with another manual wheelchair for their mobility around the airport and boarding area.

Special baggage space reservation

The SR SPEQ code must be included in the booking, including the weight and size of the equipment. Payment must be made at check-in. You must be at the check-in desk at least 20 minutes before the recommended time, with all items of equipment packed.

If this code has not been included or this space has not been requested at the time of booking, the carriage of this equipment will be subject to space availability.

To transport a larger musical instrument in a cabin seat as a CBBG, it will be necessary to contact Serviagencias / Serviagencias USA-Canada, who will inform you of the measurements and requirements.

equipaje voluminoso pesado

To transport baggage that exceeds the permitted dimensions (158cm height+width+length), you must contact Serviagencias and consult the feasibility. If the weight is between 23 and 32kg, the corresponding overweight charge will be applied at the airport.

Musical instruments, audiovisual equipment, industrial spare parts, etc. weighing between 32 and 45 kg* will always be considered as additional baggage and a charge will be applied.

*Except on flights departing from Brussels, where the maximum weight allowed for checked baggage of any type is 32 kg.

Space Reservation

For this type of baggage, the code SR BULK must be included when making the reservation, and check viability and conditions at Serviagencias; on the Iberia Cargo telephone number (+34) 913 12 0717; or at cgoccenter@iberia.es.

Payment must be made at check-in. You must be at the check-in desk at least 20 minutes before the recommended time.

Regardless of whether they are for hunting or sporting purposes, firearms and ammunition will always be carried in the hold, as they are dangerous goods. The transport charge shall be paid at the airport.

Hunting and sport shooting equipment is considered to be a group of items consisting of no more than:

• Rifles and shotguns (long guns):

Two cases of rifles or shotguns with not more than two rifles or shotguns in total and not more than 5kg of ammunition per passenger, in one or more cases. An additional suitcase or case for shooting equipment (suit, gloves, footwear, etc).


• Pistols (small arms):

Two pistol cases with no more than five pistols and a maximum of 5kg of ammunition per passenger, in one or more boxes. One additional suitcase or case for shooting equipment (suit, gloves, footwear, etc).

Conditions for acceptance on the flight

Weapons must be unloaded, disassembled and properly packed. The ammunition must be well packed in another wooden, metal or pressed cardboard box, duly labelled and identified on the outside and with the knowledge of the carriers.


In order to be able to embark with origin or connection from any airport in Brazil carrying or wanting to check in a firearm, the passenger must register in SISCAER ARMAS (only available in Portuguese).


Consult the procedure for transporting firearms to/from Brazil according to the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) regulations (only available in Portuguese).

Carriage of weapons as checked baggage

For the acceptance and carriage of weapons as checked baggage, the following must be taken into account:

Package

Firearms must be unloaded, disassembled (with the exception of rifles and shotguns that cannot be disassembled) and suitably packaged. Ammunition shall be transported on the aircraft, only as checked baggage and properly labelled and identified; properly packed in wooden, metal or pressed cardboard boxes for protection, and with the knowledge of the carriers. Weapons and ammunition may not be packed in the same container.


Bladed weapons and sharp objects must be in appropriate packaging.

Check-in

The passenger must present the authorisation and the form issued by the Airport Weapons Intervention Office. The original copy shall be for the passenger and the copy shall be placed in the baggage containing the firearm.


The luggage containing the firearm must be collected by the passenger at a domestic destination, at the Weapons Intervention office at the airport of destination. For foreign destinations, the passenger must comply with the provisions of the authorities of that country.

Ammunition

Ammunition shall be carried on the aircraft, only as checked baggage and duly labelled, identified and packed in wooden, metal or pressed cardboard boxes to protect them, and always with the knowledge of the carriers.


Only small arms ammunition for sporting and personal use will be admitted, provided that they do not contain incendiary or explosive projectiles.


For the transport of ammunition within the national territory or to points abroad, the National Regulations based on the Explosives Regulations must be applied, with the limits established therein and in accordance with the needs of the sporting activity.


In any case, each passenger may not carry more than 5kg (11Lb) of ammunition.


When more than one passenger is travelling with weapons, each passenger must present his or her equipment individually. Grouping with other passengers' equipment is not permitted.

Reservation of space

The SR WEAP code must be included in the reservation, including a description of the weapon and the quantity of ammunition carried, in the free text field.
