Baggage

Checked baggage

equipaje facturable

Maximum standard weights and dimensions (including handle, pockets and wheels):

23kg (maximum 32kg)

158cm (height+width+length)

The maximum weight of each piece will be the weight included in the free baggage allowance, and an overweight fee may be charged up to a maximum of 32kg. Luggage weighing more than 32 kg will not be transported.

All checked baggage is personal and non-transferable: each passenger will check his or her own baggage individually.

Additional baggage

If you need to take more luggage, you can hire up to a maximum of 9 pieces of luggage when booking, including those included in the free baggage allowance of the ticket. This can be booked through the travel agency (as long as it is only one additional piece), or through the Reservation Management and during the online Check-in process, as shown on the website.

You can choose the weight of the additional baggage and pay only for what you need:

• 15kg .

• 23kg
 (available only on some routes).

• 32kg.

If more luggage than the free baggage allowance is carried and it has not been previously booked through the agency or our website, the customer must be at the airport before the recommended time.

Reservation and payment of additional baggage

Checked baggage

In order to check in additional items to the free baggage allowance, an additional excess baggage fee must be paid in three ways:

1.

At some airports in the network, any passenger may pay, by credit card, the excess baggage fee at the check-in counter.

2.

Or they can pay in cash at the airport sales office.

3.

By pre-payment with a discount from autocheck-in online at Iberia.com, 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the flight at the time of check-in. These baggage payments are non-refundable (> this only applies to case 3, or to the three forms of payment,?).

The first piece of excess baggage can also be purchased at the time of booking, at the same prices as for online self check-in.

If travelling with excess baggage, passengers must present themselves at the check-in desk at least 20 minutes before the recommended check-in time.

The price of each additional piece will depend on the class of service, the baggage to be included, the destination of the trip and whether it is purchased online or at the airport. Check here for the exact price:

Exchanges and Refunds

Refunds: permitted, if the tariff allows them.

Exchanges/Refunds. If the fare allows changes, the purchased bag may be used for a new flight.

At present, not all markets and/or systems have the technical means to sell additional pieces of baggage.  In such cases, please contact Iberia.

Exceptional cases - Overweight

This is a charge applied when a piece of luggage exceeds 23 kg, even if it does not reach the maximum weight allowance of 32 kg. The price varies according to the destination.

Luggage or any items larger than 190cm in length will not be allowed.

On flights to/from Bolivia, the Infant ticket allowance will be one piece.

The checked baggage allowance of codeshare, oneworld and partner airlines may differ. For overweight, excess baggage and similar, the baggage rules of the airline operating that flight will apply. Check with the operating carrier to confirm your checked baggage and other restrictions.

Each airline may establish its own baggage allowance, limitations and conditions. Check with the operating airline to confirm its baggage allowance and other restrictions.

The most beneficial free baggage allowance for the customer with a direct Iberia ticket to the final destination will apply, even if there are several connecting flights. For flights originating or terminating in the United States with multiple legs, the free baggage allowance for the first leg of the outbound or return journey will apply.

If different tickets are used, each ticket shall be subject to a separate baggage allowance. Only connecting baggage may be checked in, provided that all flights are under the same booking reference or reservation.
If you are travelling on a connecting flight between an Iberia flight operated by Vueling and another Iberia or Iberia Regional flight, the Iberia baggage transport conditions will apply, both for the free baggage allowance and the excess baggage on the entire journey to the destination.

In the event of travelling on an Iberia flight (operated by Vueling) and/or making a transit between Iberia flights (operated by Vueling), a free baggage allowance of 25 kg will be applied, with a surcharge for each kilogram exceeding this weight, up to a maximum of 32 kg. There will be a surcharge for each additional piece according to the company's current rates, in addition to the charge per kilo of weight of said piece, to be paid at the airport.

If travelling to/from Algeria, the excess baggage allowance is 1 piece of 30 kg maximum per passenger (including Infant).
In accordance with the policy of the operating company, these surcharges for excess kgs or pieces will be applied for each route (leg) flown, and not per journey (origin-destination).

If travelling on a code-share flight, the excess baggage allowances shown on the ticket for each flight will apply. The excess weight, excess baggage and similar rules of the airline operating that flight shall apply.

If the ticket includes flights of Iberia and another airline, the excess baggage allowance of the airline operating the most significant flight shall apply. In the event that Iberia is the first airline, the excess shown on the ticket shall apply. If separate tickets have been purchased for different airlines, the baggage allowance of the operating airline shall apply to each ticket.

If traveling on jetBlue-operated flights between Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) and San Juan, Puerto Rico, these checked baggage restrictions apply:

Economy Class: 2 pieces of 23kg each.

Business Class: 3 pieces of 23kg each.

Under no circumstances will the purchase of additional baggage or excess weight be permitted.

Additional baggage allowances offered by each airline will be valid only for that airline's flights.

A maximum total of 9 items are allowed to check in, those included in the free baggage allowance plus additional baggage, except on those routes with special restrictions.
