Flying is completely safe and does not affect pregnancy. In any case, the doctor will be the one to indicate whether or not it is advisable to fly.
Iberia does not require any specific authorisation before 28 weeks of pregnancy. The IATA Medical Manual recommends it after 28 weeks.
From 36 weeks of gestation (32 if multiple and without complications), IATA recommends not to fly. If she still needs to travel, the passenger must present a certificate from her doctor when boarding.
One week after the birth, she will be able to fly again.
Iberia allows babies of any age to fly, but recommends not to do so until seven days after birth. You should bear in mind that:
• Pressure changes may cause discomfort to the baby (it is advisable for the passenger to consult her paediatrician).
• The baby must be well hydrated before and after the flight, as it is very susceptible to dehydration.
Iberia gives preferential access to pregnant women and families with babies. They only have to identify themselves at the boarding gate and our staff will tell them how to proceed.
Pregnant women who have already reached 36 weeks of gestation will not be able to travel on flights operated by Vueling.
